If you've come to my website you're probably someone who enjoys traditional music and song. Well met, and welcome!
Traditional music has been part of my life since I can remember, My dad loved folk music and had an extensive collection of recordings, and I began singing and playing the guitar when I was fourteen (more years ago than I care to count!). The old songs and ballads have always been a source inspiration and joy for me. I enjoy sharing the music, and this was really what led to singing professionally over the years, and also to the founding of Richmond Folk Music in 2005.
I perform at a wide variety of events in the Central Virginia area, including pubs, coffeehouses, private gatherings, cultural events, Celtic/folk festivals, folk clubs and libraries. Upon request, I can prepare an educational program or conduct ballad workshops.In addition to my solo work (which is mostly traditional ballads) I perform in a duo with banjo player John Robison ( Turf Fire ) Our repertoire includes Old Time, Appalachian, Irish and Scottish material and we are available for cultural events, festivals, private parties and pub gigs. Occasionally I team up with other musicians such as Gregg Kimball (www.myspace.com/greggandmary ).
